Abstract

Langdalen, E. 1974. Conservation of the natural and cultural landscape as an integral part of land-use planning. Norsk geogr. Tidsskr. 28, 1–17. The planning situation in Norway has improved during the last decade. Conservation is now being considered as an important planning element, but there is a need for more comprehensive analytical and synthetical work. The article discusses conflicts between national and local interests, conservation strategies, planning methods, classification of protected areas, and criteria for conservation, as well as Norwegian legislation and recent planning policy.
