Abstract
ABSTRACTCrystal structure and magnetic properties of the R3Co1.87In4 compounds (R = Ho, Er, Tm) have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction as well as dc and ac magnetic measurements. The compounds crystallize in the hexagonal Lu3Co1.87In4-type structure which is closely related to the ZrNiAl-type. Magnetic data indicate different properties at low temperatures, namely: ferromagnetism below about 10 K followed by a like spin glass behavior below 5.8 K in R = Ho, antiferromagnetic order with ferromagnetic component below 5.2 K (R = Er) and pure antiferromagnetism below 2.8 K (R = Tm).
