Abstract

This study found that the majority of the publications by researchers at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Nigeria are either journal articles or conference / workshop proceedings and English is the predominant language used. About 37% of the publications are single-authored while about 49% are written by two or three authors. The citation counts for a sample of the journal articles were traced using the Science Citation Index. The range of citations per article is from 0 to 39. The mean citation rate ranges from 1.88 for articles published in 1986 to 13.57 for articles published in 1977. A comparison of the mean citation rate for this sample with another sample from CAB Abstracts shows no significant difference. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
