Abstract

A radiological evaluation of 238U, 234U, 210Pb, and 210Po in Greek raisins was performed. A wide range of activity concentrations was determined, while in most cases there is a disequilibrium in 234U/238U and 210Po/210Pb fractions. The radiological effect due to raisins consumption was found negligible compared with other foodstuffs. Uranium isotopes were separated by extraction chromatography and electrodeposited on stainless steel plates. 210Po was spontaneously deposited on nickel plates. 210Pb was indirectly determined by alpha spectrometry through the ingrowth of 210Po. The radioactive sources were measured by alpha spectrometry.
