Abstract

AbstractCanada has significant petroleum, natural gas, and coal reserves and is one of only three member‐states of the Organisation for Economic Co‐operation and Development (OECD) that is a net energy exporter.1 Canada is the largest source of US energy imports, and nearly all of Canada's oil and gas exports go to the United States. Recognizing the importance of energy trade, both the United States and Canada, along with Mexico, participate in the North American Energy Working Group, which seeks to improve energy integration and cooperation between the countries in the region.2
