Abstract

A linear multidegree of freedom system is perturbed by introducing a perturbed mass matrix and a perturbed stiffness matrix. First-order perturbations of the natural frequencies are obtained from a solvability condition. The expansion theorem is then used to calculate first-order mode shape perturbations. An example is presented.
