Abstract

Numerically determined natural convective heat transfer rates from inclined narrow isothermal plates for a relatively wide range of dimensionless plate widths are presented. Results for both positive and negative inclination angles, i.e., results both for the case where the heated plate is facing upwards and for the case where the heated plate is facing downwards are presented. Results are presented for a Prandtl number of 0.7, this being approximately the value for air at ambient conditions. Empirical equations for the mean heat transfer rate from narrow inclined flat plates have been derived from the numerical results.
