Abstract
Sorbus rupicola (Syme) Hedl. (Aria rupicola (Syme) Mezhenskyj) (Rock Whitebeam) is reported from the Burren for the first time—a noteworthy new station for this rare native tree species. Sorbus mougeotii Soy.-Will. and Godr. (Hedlundia mougeotii (Soy.-Will. and Godr.) Sennikov and Kurtto) (Mougeot's Whitebeam), a native of central Europe, is also reported from the Burren; this is the first record of a naturalised population of this species in Ireland. S. rupicola is a priority for conservation; S. mougeotii is potentially an invasive species. We also report two new records from the Burren for Sorbus aria (L.) Crantz (Aria edulis (Willd.) M.J. Roemer) (Common Whitebeam).
