Abstract

While on a field project in Mongolia, the GAC country representative and regional coordinator for Asia, Lawrence M. Gochioco, gave a lecture at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) on 28 September 2010. The presentation on “Coal Seismic” addressed exploration challenges regarding a major natural resource in the area. Mongolia is believed to possess one of the world's richest coal deposits. The event was coordinated and sponsored by Uguumur Gotovsuren, GeoSignals director, and Baatarchuluun Tsermaa, chairman of the Department of Geophysics. The department has more than 200 undergraduate and graduate students.
