Abstract
Dr. Earl N. Moore of the Department of Veterinary Science, the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station, Wooster, received the annual Research Award of the National Turkey Federation. The presentation was made by Dr. B. F. Pomeroy, the Chairman of the NTF Award Committee at the banquet during the eighth annual convention. The award, consisting of $500 and an engraved plaque is made annually to the individual whose outstanding work in the field of turkey research has aided the development of the industry.The citation stated “while the basis of the award to Dr. Moore is the large amount of research he has conducted toward the advancement of our knowledge of turkey diseases, he has also contributed greatly in the field of turkey management.” Among a long list of contributions to the control of diseases in turkeys, his work with fowl typhoid, coccidiosis, blackhead and aspergillosis was stressed.
