Abstract

The economic development of the United States in modern conditions meets many challenges, among which the state of the infrastructure of the economy and the country as a whole is of the greatest importance. Infrastructure determines the sustainability of economic growth, the balanced development of states and territories, strengthens the unity of the country's economic space and the foundations of its competitiveness on the world stage. The article shows how the parameters and content of the infrastructure are changing in the coming century, supplemented by the information and communication component and the growing requirements of environmental protection. All this puts on the agenda the solution of both practical and theoretical issues. On the one hand, huge investments are required for the renewal and development of infrastructure, and on the other - the search and justification of the optimality of the new infrastructure and methods of its measurement.
