Abstract

This article compares the current approach to family policy in the United States with Sweden's family policy, focusing on the connection between family supports and labor market policy. The goal is to clarify the real impact of Swedish family policy on women and the limitations of the approach advocated in the United States. "Women-friendly" policies, which foster equality of opportunity and equality of result, are the suggested policy directions.
