Abstract
There is good news and bad news to report with respect to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics at the conclusion of my two-year term as president. The good news is that the ship of state is still afloat! The bad news, however, is that some of our members have jumped overboard. The sea is still very rough, and it might be prudent to wear life jackets. We are in for tormy weather ahead. and it's esential that we prepare ourselves for that storm brewing on the horizon.
