Abstract

There's no question about it, this year's National Chemistry Week [NCW] was bigger and better than ever. We touched more people, and a wider cross section of our community was involved. Arthur C. Bayer is speaking for the American Chemical Society's Baton Rouge Section, where he is NCW coordinator. But he might just as well be speaking for all ACS local sections with respect to the society's nationwide chemistry celebration held in early November. Bayer adds that throughout his area, Our message was heard loud and clear: Chemistry is fun; chemistry is everywhere. It's that kind of energy and enthusiasm that has made National Chemistry Week such a successful public outreach program for ACS. NCW is aimed at reaching the public—especially the nanation's youth—with messages about the important role of chemistry in everyday life.
