Abstract
The nasal septum is divided into bony, cartilaginous and membranous parts. The bony septum is mainly formed by the perpendicular plate of ethmoid and vomer. The cartilaginous septum is not an isolated cartilage and is in unison with the upper lateral cartilages. Nasal airflow can be demonstrated by misting of the examination mirror or metal tongue spatula. Submucosal Resection addresses deviation at the body of the septum. A number of studies have shown septoplasty to have a good effect on nasal blockage and to be cost-effective compared with non-surgical management. In most cases of septal deviation, the septal L-strut is involved and the approach should allow adequate exposure. Nasal valve is the area caudal to the nasal bones and it contains the narrowest section of the nasal airway as well as a mobile collapsible lateral nasal sidewall. The nasal valve has traditionally been divided into two three-dimensional areas: internal valve and external valve.
