Abstract

Many people may not be aware that the State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA) is the single authority that can oversee opioid treatment programs (OTPs). The SOTA, in most states, is overseen by the director of the state alcohol and drug agency, also known as the Single State Agency (SSA) for alcohol and other drugs. The director of the SSA is a member of the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), which last month issued a fact sheet describing the role of the SOTA.
