Abstract

In the system 48Ti + 42Ca at a 48Ti energy of E Lab = 385 MeV the 2n-stripping reaction leading to 46Ti + 44Ca shows a remarkably narrow structure at a total excitation energy of 17.8 MeV and an experimental width smaller than 350 keV. Similar structures have been found also in the 48Ti + 26Mg → 46Ti + 28Mg reaction. A possible tentative explanation is the mutual excitation of high spin states in the final nuclei.
