Abstract

The objective of this article was to investigate the narratives of postpartum women about childbirth care practices. This is narrative research with a qualitative approach, whose setting was the municipality of Sobral, Ceará, in a reference maternity hospital for the 11th health region. Information collection took place in the months of November and December 2023, with 14 postpartum women. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, with opinion no. 6,478,196. Thus, it can be seen that the majority of women had positive perceptions regarding the obstetric care provided by the institution: presence of a companion, satisfaction with the health team, normal birth without medical interventions, recognition of normal birth as the best birth. Thus, it is concluded that the quality of the service at the unit presented as the stage for the interviews shows dynamic access, assistance aimed at care with information and conduct and the encouragement of safe practices for maternal and child health.
