Cooch Behar kingdom had been one of the most powerful kingdoms of India established in 1515 C.E. by Bisva Singha. Under Nar Narayan, one of its most powerful kings, the kingdom's authority and influence extended beyond Burma in the east. Not only did the kingdom have a thriving and well-established social and political framework, but it also had a sophisticated economic system. This economic structure arose from the prosperous trade that took place in this region.
