Abstract

In article number 2002997, Jonathan O. Martinez, Francesca Taraballi, and co-workers present a new drug delivery approach, combining mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) tropism with multistage nano-vector (MSV) payload delivery. The MSCs act as a “trojan horse,” carrying MSV at the site of inflammation in an efficient manner. The system can transport anti-inflammatory payloads, conserving local inflammatory targeting and rapidly triggering a reduction of local inflammation, extending survival to 100% in a lethal model of systemic inflammation.
