Abstract

Ag nanoparticles with an average size of 4 nm in diameter were successfully synthesized with a plasma method and three kinds of Ag nanoparticles were prepared by an inductively coupled plasma reactor equipped with the liquid nitrogen cooling system. High-resolution transmission electron microscope images and electron diffraction patterns of Ag nanoparticles were measured. The measurements of the field dependence of dc magnetization in fields up to 7 Tesla were carried using a commercial SQUID magnetometer. From the field dependence of magnetization, it shows that there is ferromagnetic component in our Ag nanoparticles even though bulk Ag is nonmagnetic.
