Abstract

The mechanochemical reaction has been applied to synthesizing nano-sized amorphous Cu40Zr60 alloy particles. The structure of Cu–Zr particles has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and differential thermal analysis. The tests show that the amorphous Cu–Zr particles are around 40 nm in size. The crystallization temperature of the nano-sized amorphous Cu40Zr60 particles is lower than that of the corresponding micron-scale particles. The formation mechanism of the nano-sized amorphous Cu40Zr60 alloy particles is also discussed.
