Abstract

Abstract The preparation and magnetic properties of nanosize Ce3+ added MgCuZn ferrite powders have been investigated. The obtained powders were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) techniques. High energy ball milling enabled result in direct formation of single phase MgCuZn ferrite powders at a low temperature (700 °C). Lattice constants (a) and crystallite size were calculated from the XRD data. The values of lattice constants increased with an increase of Ce2O3. The crystallite sizes were in the range of 35–50 nm. The saturation magnetization (Ms) increased with the addition of Ce2O3.
