Abstract

We considered plasma decay in pure water vapor at high temperatures. The conductivity decay in a pure water vapor was significantly slower compared with the plasma decay in the mixture of water vapor with argon leading the 50 % conductivity decrease at the microsecond time scale. The effect of the depopulation of the tail of the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) at the ionization levels higher than 10-4 was observed and it was shown that it causes the increase of the vibrational excitation rates at the reduced electric field around 30 Td.
