Abstract

A description is given of an automated laser nanosecond spectrofluorimeter with high time resolution, constructed on the basis of a tunable dye laser and an Elektronika-60 microcomputer. The spectrofluorimeter can be used to study kinetics of the emission anisotropy, to record instantaneous polarization, emission, and excitation spectra in the nanosecond range, to determine the excited-state lifetimes as well as the Brownian rotation constants, etc. A schematic diagram of the spectrofluorimeter is provided and its operating conditions are discussed. A report is given of an application of the spectrofluorimeter in an investigation of solutions of rhodamine 6G in ethanol and of the characteristics of Brownian rotation of molecules of phthalimide derivatives in glycerin.
