Abstract

ABSTRACTThe influence of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on microstructure and tribological property of M2 high speed steel by means of nanoscratch and internal friction were discussed. The results obtained have shown that the wear resistance of M2 high speed steel after DCT treatment was superior to that of quenched samples. The formation of alloy carbides affected the height of the Snoek-Köster-Kê (SKK) peak during cryogenic treatment, making the decrease of the SKK peak. Long-time isothermal cryogenic treatment is not benefit for frictional properties of M2 high speed steel.
