Abstract

Nanoscale ZnO/α-Fe2O3 Heterostructures Among metal oxides, ZnO and α-Fe2O3 hold great potential for hydrogen production through photoelectrochemical water splitting (PEC WS). However, significant drawbacks related to these materials in bulk form hinder their efficiency and scalability. In article number 2100104, Letizia Liccardo, Elisa Moretti, Alberto Vomiero, and co-workers report morphology, doping, and nanostructuring as key parameters for boosting the overall performance in PEC WS, highlighting how ZnO/α-Fe2O3 composite systems represent a promising solution compared to single building blocks.
