Abstract

AbstractNanogels (NGs) as soft nanosized materials have gained a variety of interests in biomedical fields. The versatile NG scaffolds with 3‐dimensional spherical shape, high loading efficiency, tunable surface functionalization, and excellent biocompatibility afford their uses as carrier to load mono‐ or multi‐mode molecular imaging contrast agents (CAs). This review summarizes the synthesis routes and applications of NGs as CAs for molecular imaging applications including magnetic resonance (MR), computed tomography (CT), radionuclide, optical, and dual/multi‐modality imaging.
