Abstract

Research of air filtration technology has been paid much attention due to the increasingly serious environmental problems. Till now, a great deal of work has been engaged in promoting the development of air filtration fields. However, the trade-off between the removal efficiency and the pressure drop remains challenging. Nanofibrous filters (NFFs), with the superiority of high surface energy, controllable porosity, good interconnected pore structure, and easily combining with other functional substances, are expected to achieve high efficiency and low resistance. In this paper, the filtration mechanisms of fibrous filters were presented, involving both mechanical adsorption and electrostatic adsorption. Besides, on the basis of the two mechanisms, the overview of structure-dependent and electrostatic-dependent NFFs was summarized separately in recent years, such as the component, preparation process and application performance, respectively. Finally, the development of nanofibrous membranes was prospected with the aim of providing directional guidance for improvement of air purification field.
