Abstract
The purpose of this paper is manufacturing Nanoencapsulated PCM (NPCM) products for use in gypsum wallapplications as thermal energy storage material, with the aim of expanding in use from butyl palmitate in polystyrene-co-methyl methacrylate shells which shows good energy storage capacity. This type of Nanoencapsules synthesis had not been previously described in literature, nor patented. PCM (butyl palmitate) can be encapsulated successfully by these processes and in the form of core–shell structure with use of different stirring rates and hybridized suspension agents. SEM nanographs of Nanoencapsulated NPCMs show that spherical Nanocapsules were obtained with a narrow Particle Size Distribution (PSD) 0–150nm, which are proper for use in combination of gypsum. Our tests and synthesis results on the basis of thermal storage study of Nano-encapsulated butyl palmitate by suspension like polymerization process show high encapsulation efficiency with proper thermal energy storage capacity in gypsum walls.
