Abstract
The electrospinning technique is the most straightforward and important technique to develop the nanofiber membrane for many applications. This comprehensive review explores the multifaceted applications of electrospun nanofiber membranes across diverse fields, ranging from wastewater treatment and food packaging to wound healing, drug delivery, catalytic processes, energy cells, medical dressings, and biomedical applications. The unique properties of electrospun nanofiber membranes, such as high surface area-to-volume ratio, tunable pore size, and exceptional mechanical strength, enable their effectiveness in addressing complex challenges in various industries. It is well-known that electrospun nanofibers play a vital role in wastewater treatment by providing effective separation and filtration. In food packaging applications, to extend the shelf life of the foods and maintain the food quality. The biomedical arena benefits extensively from electrospun nanofiber membranes, with applications spanning wound healing, drug delivery, and medical dressings. Catalytic applications also thrive by utilizing electrospun nanofiber membranes as supports for catalysts, enabling efficient chemical reactions and improved reaction rates. In conclusion, this review highlights electrospun nanofiber membranes' diverse and promising roles across various industrial sectors. Electrospun nanofiber membranes' unique properties make them versatile materials for addressing healthcare and environmental challenges. In this review, we tried to give a detailed role of nanofiber membranes in the abovementioned applications.
