Abstract

A comparative study of laser-produced nanocomposite ternary SiCN powders, obtained from different SiH 4, amines and NH 3 mixtures, is presented. It is shown that the final composition of powders is correlated with and may be controlled by the experimental parameters. Preliminary results on laser irradiation of SiH 4, NH 3 and (CH 3) 3Al mixtures demonstrate the possibility of producing nanosized powders composed of a matrix of Si 3N 4 with a different content of Al.
