Abstract
Abstract Core loss electron energy loss spectroscopy spectrum imaging is used to map vanadium-based precipitates with dimensions as small as 1 nm in a matrix of high strength low alloy steel. The transmission electron microscopy specimen was prepared by the focused ion beam liftout technique followed by low energy ion milling. Characterisation of such precipitates is discussed.
