Abstract

High-quality silicon surfaces have been obtained by single-point diamond turning. After the analysis of the turning mechanism, the relationship between the surface integrity and the turning parameters was studied in detail. Results from the mechanism were compared with turning tests on silicon using a commercially available single-crystal diamond tool with a rake angle of 0°. A novel technique was developed for the first time to confirm the edge radius of the diamond tool.
