Abstract

In the present study, Green synthesis of Al2O3-SiO2 nanoparticles synthesized using leaves extract of the Fimbristylis tetragona R. Br. plant and their incorporation in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Chitosan as food packaging materials have been performed. PVA/CS/Al2O3-SiO2 thin film was prepared successfully and studied for the antimicrobial properties. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized via a scanning electron microscope (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the results revealed the formation composite of Al2O3-SiO2 nanoparticles. The addition of different ratios of the nanocomposite onto the PVA/CS The developed hybrid nanocomposite films have the potential to be developed as a biodegradable alternative.
