Abstract

The paper is devoted to the naming system of female characters in the novel «Vardanank» by D. K. Demirchyan and «Wounds of Armenia» by H.Abovyan. Among the main tasks of the study are the detection of the female anthroponymic units and their functions as well as the peculiarities of their representation in the novel under the research. The female anthroponymic system of novels includes certain models and naming formulas. The single-term naming models and variable forms of binomial formulas, including "appellative identifiers", turns out to be the most frequent in the studied novels. There are no three-term formulas in the texts. The fixed nonanthroponymous female nominations bear both nominative and evaluative characterological properties in the context. They characterize the character by such means of nomination, which include vocabulary indicating the gender, age and social status of the characters, blood and non-blood kinship, external and internal traits of the character, etc. The use of descriptive, historical and stylistic methods enables us to conclude that the system of female names is characterized by the historically formed composition of anthroponyms, traditions and norms of use, general linguistic and stylistic features.
