Abstract
Abstract Nahm and Laplace equations are used to construct solutions of the self-dual Yang-Mills equations. For a particular solution of the Nahm equations we obtain the A 1 Atiyah-Ward ansatz giving the 't Hooft family of multi-instantons. Generically, our ansatz can not be reproduced by symmetry reduction with three independent conformal symmetries.
