Abstract

Na2CoSiO4 was prepared via hydrothermal method and used as positive electrode material for sodium-ion capacitors. The as-prepared electrode exhibits a specific capacitance of 249Fg−1 at current density of 1Ag−1 in a three electrode system. A sodium-ion capacitor is fabricated, which can be noted as activated carbon (AC)/2molL−1 NaOH/Na2CoSiO4, showed excellent electrochemical performance. Such sodium-ion capacitor exhibits high specific capacitance of 42Fg−1 and high specific energy of 12.4W hkg−1 at a power density of 782.7Wkg−1 based on the total weight of the active materials, i.e. AC and Na2CoSiO4. Furthermore, the capacitor shows good capacity retention with 84% after 1500 charge–discharge cycles, which indicates that sodium-ion capacitor has great potential for practical applications.
