Abstract

Mobile computing has grown rapidly in recent years due to an increase in the number of mobile devices and improved infrastructure to support data communication through such devices. In this context, a more specialized service is clearly needed for mobile computing users to filter the vast amount of available information and provide for such user’s specific needs and interests. This paper presents the first version of a mobile application for location-based emergency services, which allows the user to rapidly and easily access information on nearby care facilities in a medical emergency or accident. This research topic is part of an undergraduate science project in computation developed at the ‘Darcy Ribeiro’ State University of Norte Fluminense and funded by the National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico - CNPq).
