Abstract

N-sulfonamides of the benzopyran-related class of potassium channel openers were found to inhibit KCl-induced contractions of smooth muscle preparations (rat aorta or bladder preparations) in a glyburide insensitive manner or to augment contractions. These activities were found to be a function of the nature of the sulfonamide substiutents.
