Abstract
The reaction of trialkyl- and trialkoxy(3-aminopropyl)silanes with paraformaldehyde yielded 1,3,5-tris-(3′-trialkylsilylpropyl)- and 1,3,5-tris(3′-trialkoxysilylpropyl)hexahydrotriazines, respectively, which, upon treatment with sulfur, were converted into N,N′-bis(3-trialkylsilylpropyl)- or N,N′-bis(trialkoxysilylpropyl)-thioureas. The same compounds were also obtained by heating trialkyl- or trialkoxy(3-aminopropyl)silanes with thiourea in the presence of catalytic amounts of ammonium sulfate.
