Abstract

The effect of a dynamic absorber on a parametric excitation system with a single degree of freedom is considered analytically. As an analytical tool, a new type of complex modal analysis method is proposed, and the approximate solutions for the main resonance of each mode are derived. From some numerical results, the validity of the approximate solutions is verified. It is analytically and numerically shown that the destabilizing energy can be changed by using a dynamic absorber to adjust the mode shape, and the stabilizing energy can be increased due to damping of a dynamic absorber. In addition, an optimization procedure for the dynamic absorber is considered, using the results of numerical calculations.
