Abstract
This paper outlines the principle, mechanism and distinctive feature about plasma carburizing and nitrizing. The plasma carburizing equipment of two types ((a) PMF… two chambers type provided oil quenching tank and gas cooling fan (b) PMF-F…one chamber type used for rapid quenching by pressured gas) are introduced with explaining the operating method and the carbon control. The application of plasma carburizing is described about super carburizing, deep carburizing and the carburizing of stainless steel and PM Cr-Mn alloy.
