Abstract
In Japanese Newspaper Industry, the consumption of lighter weight newsprint have, rapidly, been increasing for saving raw materials.In using the lighter weight newsprint for the letterpress newspaper printing, the strike through problems are unavoidable. Therefore, we have been trying to develope the water based news ink which, we presumed, would be the most appropriate to overcome the strike through problems.The studies describe the formulas and printability data of water based news ink. Further, the experimental tests had been attempted so often to evaluate the printability of the water based news ink on our “N-600” High Speed Newspaper Printing Experimental Machine.Finally, we will continue its extensive research and development for the water based news ink.
