Abstract

The mechanical properties of the fabrics woven with the air jet loom (AJL) are inferior to those of the fabrics woven with the rapier or the shuttle looms, although not only the same textile weave is produced but also the same weaving yarns are used. In the previous paper, to investigate the reasons for inferiority of the fabrics woven by the drawbacks of AJL, we have investigated the change in static mechanical properties of the weft yarns by weaving. In this paper, we perform the dynamic mechanical tests on the neat and woven weft polyester yarns. From the tests, it is found that the storage modulus, E', observed below the glass transition temperature is decreased and the maximum value of the loss modulus, E'', seen inrdistribution also decreased by weaving.
