Abstract

Recently, more projects of park design by citizen’s participation have increased in Japan. But, citizens’ opinions are various, so it’s not so easy to reflect their opinions on park design. In this study, the author set up 3 stages, that is to say, “gathering citizens’ opinions on parks”, “summarizing citizens’ opinions”, and “planning park management program based on citizens’ opinions”, in order to comprehend the planning process by citizens’ participation. The result by this study will be summarized at every these 3 stages as follows: In the 1st stage of gathering citizens’ opinions, it’s very important to inform citizens of the project and its purpose, and to gather opinions from various ones. In the 2nd stage of summarizing citizens’ opinions, it must be paid attention to gather the general tendency of citizens’ opinions on parks. In the 3rd stage of planning park management program, it is effective that specialists in park design translate citizens’ opinions on parks into the elements of park management planning. This study enabled to make clear of the process and points for park management planning method based on citizens’ opinions.
