Abstract

This review article summarizes living polymerization of hydrocarbon monomers with titanium-based catalysts. The first part summarizes the past research results in living polymerization of olefins, such as higher a-olefins, propylene and ethylene. The recent developments of vinyl addition living polymerization of cycloolefins, such as norbornene and their copolymerization with ethylene or propylene were introduced in the second part. In the last part, the research achievements for living polymerization of styrene and butadiene were also summarized. The synthesis of block copolymers by applying the characteristic of those living systems was also described in each part.
