Abstract

A case of right non-recurrent laryngeal nerve identified during thyroid lobectomy is reported. The nerve was not observed in the right tracheoesophageal groove but was observed passing directly and transversely from the vagus nerve to the larynx. In a case in which the recurrent laryngeal nerve can not be identified, it is important to consider the possibility of a non-recurrent laryngeal nerve anomaly. We must also take care not to injure the recurrent laryngeal nerve in thyroid surgery.
