Abstract

The relationship between the Japanese Anglican Church and its Korean counterpart started officially in 1984 with cooperation in mission work. The Japanese Anglican Church has acknowledged its past guilt and sought reconciliation in the hope of finding a new way to peace. However, in order to accomplish this goal more research on the history of the Anglican Church in these two countries is still required. Therefore, this paper will analyze how missionary work connected Korea and Japan through a study of “The Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts” during the colonial period (1911-1945) focusing on the evangelical activities of Japanese Anglicans living in Korea.
