Abstract
Uchinotai deposit is tipical “Kuroko” Deposit. It's ore reserve is as much as 9.2 million tons, and the ore grade is 2.5% in Cu, 1.3% in Pb, 4.2% in Zn, 18.0% in Pyrite S, 1gr/t in Au, 90gr/t in Ag in average.It was newly discovered in Summer 1959; and all the plan or. the construction for developement were performed within three years. Then, in July 1962 regular production was started.Transportation system were carefully considered so that it might be simplized, and the sticky ore might be stably transported, as the deposit and surrounded rocks were soft, loose, and sticky. Consequently, long span belt conveyor system (630m long, 16°30' inclined) with water cleaning apparatus was adopted, And besids, specially designed “Chain Feeder” was installed in the bortom of main chutes. They are working effectively and stable operation have been done.As regards mining method, “Long wall top-slicing with filling” (sand slime filling accompanied with artificial roof made of reinforced cement-mortar) was decided after long investigation. This is quite a special method especially in metal mines, but extremely effective one for loose deposit in order to obtain high mining recovery, and to work safely without damage from rock fall.“Cross cut” method (Underhand horizontal slicing with back filling) is also ado pted to control metal balance.
